Belated Welcome to Major Nelson
Getting caught up on a little light reading over on Xbox.com the other night. I know some of the product guys hang out at the site, but I was pleased to see a full-time Xbox employee jumping into the fray.
"Hi Everyone,
I've got a minute now, so let me introduce myself. As you saw from Trixie's post, I am the Director of programming for XBox Live, and I am part of the Product team here at Xbox Live. What that means is that I am sitting in the same hallway with the people that come up with new features for Xbox Live, the people who actually create the code (developers) that makes it all happen and the testers that make sure it works the way it is supposed to...there are a lot of others too, but I have not learned all there names yet.
I've been at Xbox for about a week (but spent the past three years here at Microsoft.) I've also been an avid lurker on the forums from day one, so although you don't know me, I've got a bit of a head start in getting to know each of you. I'm glad I've been asked to jump in and be an official part of the chaos. I was a first wave beta tester for the service, and have played hundreds of hours online. I have another gamertag that I have been using up until now, so many of you have probably killed me in GR, GRIT, CW or Rainbow Six (yea…I like FPS) or kicked my a$* in NFL Fever or PGR2.
The forums are important to everyone at Xbox…thus one of the reasons they hired me! When I met with my new manager, our first discussion was about forums, and jumping in to let you all know that yeah ..we are here…we are listening and we want your feedback…good AND bad. One of my roles as the Director of Programming is to make sure that Xbox Live members are happy (how’s THAT for a tough task!) and get your feedback to the product group. If something is not working or broken, I want to know about it. I will run up and down the halls of Xbox and find the people responsible and get them to focus on it. I am going to be the member’s voice here at Xbox Live.
So trust me when I tell you that the forums are valued within Xbox. We appreciate your enthusiasm for the product and company, as well as your input when we're not meeting expectations. I'll be here as much as I can, when I am not working on developing great promotions and programs for the members, and attending meetings about the next cool things coming up.
