"Cut and Paste Here" Monthly Report

Earlier in the week, I gathered input from team members for a monthly report. I got this submission from an employee, and even glanced at it a couple of times, but it took me a full day to realize this was a bunch of junk. Definitely a candidate for Deloitte's Bullfigher jargon detection tool.

- Collaborated the incentives our partners utilize in their collaborative schemas
- Organized asset duplication efforts with channel advocacy
- Communicated ecosystem improvements to internal counterparts
- Drove excess go-to-market activities from partner perspective
- Responded to customer inquiries resulting in "win-win" results
- Developed strategy for execution of marketing objectives in subsidiary markets
- Produced measurable process improvements for communicating customer feedback
- Developed integrated IA solution for all divisional assets

I'm tempted to roll it up to management, to see how quickly they catch on. I know I tend to scan these kinds of reports, and look for things that catch my eye. In this case, scanning the list told me that it would just requires too much brainpower to really see if it was important, so my brain accepted it as okay. After all, the right buzzwords were there, right?

Brings to mind the question, why do we do regular "status" reports? I like that they can be an effective management tool for individuals, and some managers use them to keep track of what's happening in an organization. But overall, I think I'm more in favor of a "scorecard" that could be linked to what's happening in our org.

So, I'm putting something together, to see if it flies. I'll let you know how it goes...
